| For the very first time ever, the DPA awarded the Civilian Award of Bravery to Kari T. Paulson and Anthony Sproviro for their actions in rescuing a DuPage County deputy from a burning squad car on October 6, 2002. Click here for event narrative. |

| Certificates of Honorable Mention were awarded to DuPage County Sheriff's Dept. Sergeant Robert Lesner and Deputy Edward Sokasits for their actions in resolving a suicidal subject incident. Click here for event narrative. |

A Certificate of Honorable Mention was awarded to DuPage County Sheriff's Dept. Deputy Don Knight for his actions in saving a child who had fallen through an ice covered pond on January 27, 2002.

| The 2002 DuPage County Police Association Valor Award was presented to DuPage County Sheriff's Dept.
